What am I doing here?!

So, I didn’t really faint, but I have a new job.  I’ll start August 11, 2008.  Thank the sweet baby jeebus!

I tried to make it work, I really did. At least, I had hoped it would work. Unfortunately, this, my friends, is how we roll.

On our way to D.P.’s house last night, I reminded E and M that D.P. was really tired, and wouldn’t be playing ball or anything for quite awhile. [He’s due to see a surgeon next week for a consult on a hernia injury he ‘picked up’ at work.] They could play in the backyard, or we would watch a movie… but D.P. and I just wanted to veg. They agreed that if they didn’t behave, we’d leave immediately, and there would be no going out to eat on payday (a special treat that I’ve tried to keep up on). I trusted them, I really did. Little did I know that my kids had some really unruly behavior in store for me. I don’t know why I’m still so surprised.

It started out like any other visit to D.P.’s house… a warm welcoming with a joke, a hug and a kiss on the cheek for each of us. Okay, no kisses for E, but for the girls there were kisses. Anyway, as we walked into the house, E went straight to the back door and played outside. VICTORY! M soon followed.

Over the course of about an hour, D.P. busted E after he climbed on a tree that he’s been told every single time NOT to climb – this time, he broke some branches – and I busted both of them ripping up about 25-30 leaves on the irises (they have been cut back, so no flowers).

Obviously, we ended up leaving the house. I was so pissed, all I could see was red. This happens every single time (save, once or twice) we go over there, and I’m tired of it. 😦

In better news, I had an interview yesterday, and now I just wait to get an offer on Monday. After that, I’ll take my drug screen while ‘they’ run a background check… if all goes well, I’ll be leaving Hell very, very soon!

I received a call from the recruiter for the job I was trying for. Apparently, the office manager felt the position was open long enough and made an offer to another candidate. Bullsh*t. Don’t try to stop me from going ballistic right now, I effing give up. New Jersey, here I come!

Some of you may know that I have been actively looking for another j-o-b for at least a year. I have gone to interview after interview, and I’m frecking tired of all of the butt-kissing. I have always thought that I was underpaid, and now I know I am. I have another interview today, this one for a medical office that is very close to my home (suck it, gas jerks!) … the recruiter said based upon my medical experience and my customer service experience, I would be paid about $2/hour MORE than what I am receiving currently for the same type of j-o-b. Please God, let me get this one.

I can’t believe I’ve neglected to mention that I had a showdown at work. I’m not going to go into detail, but the person I sparred with rhymes with hoss. I’m still wondering: what am I doing here?

Don’t mess with the bull, man, you’ll get the horns!

I received word from both companies I was trying to get on with: I was not the chosen candidate. I am going to be stuck in my current position for a while longer, and I’m not happy about it! It is completely frustrating to me that I continue to put myself out there, including using my personal time to ‘run’ to interviews, and I don’t see the results I desire. They rave and joke and, ultimately, it’s all a charade. At least, that’s how I feel anyway.  Therefore, I will be taking another short break from job searching so I can refocus my mind.

I have a second interview scheduled with the staffing firm!  It’s set for Wednesday at 1130 am.  Clear on the other side of town, in the corporate office, but I’m going to be there.  Prayers and positive thoughts are appreciated!
